"The materials, which included more than just crayons, allow teachers to make transdisciplinary connections between core academic content areas like science, math, social studies or English and art. Students are able to illustrate concepts like the four layers of the earth in science, create maps or political cartoons in social studies, or illustrate the elements of a plot in English while in art class. These materials not only helped students to retain academic concepts but created a more collegial environment among staff members."

4th grade student Vanessa, noted, “I am finally able to understand how to decompose shapes to find the area because I can draw them myself and color code each area instead of just looking at something already drawn and given a bunch of numbers.” The level of student engagement increases exponentially when they are actively engaged in the content and the materials we received allowed us to do that much more frequently.

"The construction page, crayons, and stickers were what we used most. The kids enjoyed the different types of stickers and colors. The construction paper was appreciated and came in handy for a number of things."
