"The materials, which included more than just crayons, allow teachers to make transdisciplinary connections between core academic content areas like science, math, social studies or English and art. Students are able to illustrate concepts like the four layers of the earth in science, create maps or political cartoons in social studies, or illustrate the elements of a plot in English while in art class. These materials not only helped students to retain academic concepts but created a more collegial environment among staff members."
